Multiple Myeloma
After Roundup Exposure

Multiple peer-reviewed studies have linked agricultural Roundup exposure to elevated risk of Multiple Myeloma — a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow. If you used Roundup regularly and have been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, MGUS that progressed, smoldering myeloma, or plasmacytoma, you may have a viable claim against Monsanto and Bayer.

Understanding Multiple Myeloma

What Is Multiple Myeloma?

Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells — the antibody-producing white blood cells that live in the bone marrow. When plasma cells become malignant, they crowd out normal bone marrow function, produce abnormal proteins (M-protein) that accumulate in the blood and urine, and erode bone, leading to fractures and bone pain. The American Cancer Society estimates more than 35,000 Americans are diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma each year.

Multiple Myeloma is preceded by precursor conditions: Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS) and Smoldering Multiple Myeloma. A Roundup case can be evaluated based on the active myeloma diagnosis even when the disease evolved through a precursor stage.

Common Symptoms (CRAB Criteria)

  • C — HyperCalcemia (elevated calcium levels)

  • R — Renal failure (kidney damage from light chains)

  • A — Anemia (low red blood cells, fatigue, shortness of breath)

  • B — Bone lesions, pathologic fractures, bone pain (often in the back, ribs, and hips)

  • Recurrent infections from suppressed immune function

  • Hyperviscosity, neuropathy, and other paraprotein-related symptoms

Plasma Cell Cancers In The Roundup MDL

  • Multiple Myeloma — Active disease, the core diagnosis.
  • Smoldering Multiple Myeloma — Active myeloma at lower disease burden, can be evaluated when it has progressed or required treatment.
  • MGUS → Multiple Myeloma — If MGUS progressed into active myeloma, the case is built on the myeloma diagnosis.
  • Plasmacytoma — A solitary mass of malignant plasma cells, in bone or in soft tissue.
  • Plasma Cell Leukemia — A rare and aggressive form of plasma cell malignancy.

The Agricultural Worker Link

Multiple peer-reviewed studies of farmers, pesticide applicators, and other agricultural workers have found increased rates of Multiple Myeloma associated with cumulative glyphosate exposure. The Agricultural Health Study (AHS) and other large cohort analyses have specifically flagged this association.

Why The Diagnosis Detail Matters

Myeloma diagnosis depends on bone marrow plasma cell percentage, M-protein on serum and urine electrophoresis, free light chain ratio, imaging for bone lesions, and the CRAB / SLiM-CRAB criteria. Herb Borroto, M.D., J.D., reviews these reports personally to confirm the diagnosis fits and to build the causation story.

Why It Happens

Why Glyphosate Drives Multiple Myeloma

Plasma cells are mature B-cells. The same oxidative DNA damage and lymphocyte dysregulation that drives Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma after glyphosate exposure also drives Multiple Myeloma — which is why myeloma sits next to NHL in the agricultural cohort literature.

B-cell Origin

Plasma cells are differentiated B-cells. Whatever damages B-cells — like glyphosate — can drive plasma cell malignancy too.

Agricultural Health Study

Long-running cohort analyses of pesticide applicators have flagged elevated Multiple Myeloma rates with cumulative glyphosate exposure.

Monsanto Knew

The Monsanto Papers show the company tracked these signals internally while publicly insisting Roundup was safe. We use that record — just like the tobacco industry record — in front of a jury.

Multiple Myeloma Lawsuit Eligibility

Do I Qualify?

Diagnosed Myeloma Or Plasmacytoma

Active Multiple Myeloma, smoldering myeloma that progressed or required treatment, plasmacytoma, or plasma cell leukemia.

Roundup Exposure History

Regular occupational or residential Roundup use. Multiple Myeloma cases are strongest in farmers, applicators, and other heavy-exposure workers.

Within The Statute Of Limitations

Most states give 2 to 4 years from diagnosis (or, in some cases, from when the link to Roundup could reasonably have been discovered).

Wrongful Death

If a loved one used Roundup and died from Multiple Myeloma, surviving family members may bring a wrongful death claim.
